I practiced sizing images to 1000 horizontal pixels max compressing files with gimp. I also brushed off my old HTML coding skills, which I haven’t used since early 2000. I learned the basics of GitLab and Markdown. This week I also started to getting used to documentation systems for Fab Academy. The machine selected was the foam cutting cnc machine called the Foam Crawler. After discussion it was decided narrow down to one Fab Shop machine to build for Fab Academy. I communicated my initial Fab Shop project idea to my local instructor, Blair Evans, at Incite Focus Detroit. Click here for more info: Fab Shop Final Project Selection ¶ This will allow better scaling of digital fabrication per the Fab City concept. I imagine Fab Shop setups in garages, apartments and small community shop spaces. Individuals and small groups that cannot afford a fully equipped fab lab will use the Fab Shop to get a basic set of digital fab machines in place. Each Fab Shop machine will cost ~$300 each to build. These machines and systems can together reproduce themselves without the need for a Fab Lab. Fab Shop is a set of three machines and systems you build yourself in a regular fab lab. I reviewed and collated my notes a project idea called Fab Shop. A blue alligator strap complements the dial, and holds this 9.1mm thick case tightly to the wrist with a white gold pin buckle. The 33.9mm case is finished with a high polish bezel and lugs and satin finish on the sides of the case. There’s no messing about with crown position on this timepiece, which is a nice touch. This minor deviance is forgiven on account of convenience, as it serves as an easy way to adjust the date. With a dial carrying such symmetry, the only thing nudging the watch off kilter is the large rectangular pusher at the 2 o’clock position. For those less familiar with German watchmaking, the proportions of this date window will border on off-putting, but nonetheless it is executed wonderfully. One can immediately see this with the very large and highly legible outsized date window at 12 o’clock, which is counter-balanced by the running seconds subdial below. There is a certain function-first mentality when Lange creates a watch, and this Saxonia is no exception. Lange & Söhne’s timepieces are through and through German design. Lange & Söhne Saxonia 105.027 Design DetailsĪ. This remained the state of affairs until 2015, when the collection expanded with a 35mm offering alongside the larger references in the collection. In 2007, the collection increased to a significantly larger 37mm model and retired the diamond-shaped indices for the baton-style ones used today. This Saxonia 105.027 was only in production from 1997-2002 - the shortest run of any similar references of Saxonia (the majority continued for five more years). In 1997, the 105 references were introduced, adding exhibition casebacks to the collection for the first time. Thankfully this practice only lasted a few years. Both models had solid casebacks, which is unfortunate when one knows of the beautiful finishing left unseen. The model - a namesake of the German state of Saxony - was introduced as the Saxonia 102.001 and Saxonia 102.002. Lange & Söhne re-established itself as a manufacture in October of 1994, the Saxonia collection was part of its initial offering. Lange & Söhne Saxonia 105.027 Historyįirst, let’s take a step back to the brand’s origins and see why this model is so significant. A watch for true purists - those looking for a real rarity. This is the kind of piece one hunts once they’ve moved on from the “usual suspects”. While this respected brand is better known for things like the Lange 1 or Datograph, the enticement of this Saxonia is found in its balanced yet quirky aesthetics. Lange & Söhne Saxiona 105.027, one cannot help but be captivated by the design’s understated elegance. Presto, at our macroscopic level, it looks like it started moving left. So no no one is stopping the left-moving side of A. ter surface between two wooden blocks which extendedabove the water and appear as the dark rectangles in the picture. E) The wavelength of light is considerably smaller than the wavelength of sound. RM2AKFXFM A study of the propagation, refraction, reflection, interference and diffraction of ripple waves. D) The speed of sound in air is six orders of magnitude smaller than that of light. A survey of selected solutions to problems of refraction and diffraction of light waves and sound waves and the analogies of these problems to water waves. C) Light waves can be represented by rays while sound waves cannot. B) Sound waves are longitudinal, and light waves are transverse. Ahhh, but B just hit the wall, literally. A) Sound requires a physical medium for propagation. So the left moving bit of spot A was being cancelled out by the right moving bit of spot B. Now before it got to the slit there was another spot to it's left that was doing the same thing. the left side of it is moving left and the right side is moving right (its spherical). So what happens at the slit? Well consider the spot right on the left edge of the opening. When you sum it all up, all the "sideways bits" sum to zero, and the only leftover terms are the ones from the original disturbance, moving outward. Now we will see how light waves demonstrate their wave nature by reflection, refraction and diffraction. In Unit 11 of The Physics Classroom Tutorial, the reflection, refraction, and diffraction of sound waves was discussed. So wait, if the microscopic "things" are moving spherically, then why did you have a linear wavefront to start with? Because over an extended front, every bit of the wave that's going, say, right, has another bit somewhere else going left. The reflection, refraction, and diffraction of waves were first introduced in Unit 10 of The Physics Classroom Tutorial. At the microscopic level that's not what's happening, at that level its moving in all directions all the time. In the picture below Jack can hear Jill talking although they cannot. You see a linear wave, but that's because you're macroscopic. Diffraction only occurs when the wavelength is close to the size of the opening or object. Think about it differently according to Huygens a wave front is the mathematical addition of an infinity of spherical waves. So then, why does this linear thing suddenly move sideways when it goes through a hole? You're thinking of the sound as "a wave", in this particular case you're looking at it where its roughly linear. It's ultimately the same reason why light refracts, Huygens's Principle.
